Biographical Notes

Peer was born in 1966. He started working on nuclear energy issues in 1980 as a volunteer activist in several small grassroots groups.

1983 - 1990
Involved as an organiser in numerous direct actions against nuclear energy in the Netherlands. Main organiser of occupations, blockades, debates, publications, smaller and bigger direct actions, manifestations and demonstrations against Borssele and Dodewaard nuclear power stations, URENCO enrichment facility, dumping of radwaste in sea etc etc.

1990 - 1996
Energy campaigner at Milieudefensie (Foe Netherlands) responsible for climate and energy work. Organiser of events, actions, publications, international meetings within the network, development of toolkits for local groups, media-spokesperson for nuclear energy on behalf of Foe Netherlands

1997 to  2000
Nuclear energy campaigner for WISE Amsterdam, responsible for the work in Asia, a project to support Asian NGOs working on nuclear energy issues, financed by the Dutch government.

2000 –
Executive director of WISE, co-publisher of the Nuclear Monitor (see below).
