E3. Glove Box for Handling Plutonium. Plutonium is an alpha emitter. It can be handled, but only with great care. This glove box provides a sealed environment that is kept under negative pressure and filled with inert gas to keep the plutonium inside from igniting in air. Glove box workers must wear anti-contamination clothing and handle plutonium through rubber gloves attached to the wall of the box.
