J2. Inside the Submarine Reactor Burial Trench. When this disposal trench reaches its capacity of over 100 nuclear submarine hull sections, it will be filled with clay. The burial site will require long-term monitoring and maintenance to ensure that the hazardous materials within the hull sections remain inside the hulls.
